The UK has a very reasonable electricity consumption per capita compared with much of the western world and has the 12th lowest consumption per capita in the EU. Over the last few years, the UK has continued to reduce its consumption, while the other 27 EU countries have been increasing consumption on average. Despite this success there is still a lot of progress to be made to help reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, decrease both urban and rural light pollution, and help reduce the cost of your bills.
Turn off lights in rooms you aren’t using.
Turn off switches when you are finished with appliances.
Get a Smart Meter to record your progress.
Buy energy efficient boilers, washing machines, dishwashers and other electrical appliances.
